The idyllic town lies on the western shore of the huge lake Llanquihue. Old wooden houses, street signs and a German club give clues to the German immigrants who populated the area around the lake in the middle of the 19th century.

The numerous rose gardens in the area of Puerto Varas´ boardwalks gave the city its name - "City of roses". At the end of the opposite bank you can admire the volcano Osorno . The friendly town is an ideal starting point for excursions into the surrounding area.
